Good News For People With Smiles That “Bite”

My Smile BitesAs an advocate of regular dental care, 1-800-DENTIST® understands that many people can’t afford the dentistry they need. That’s why the nation’s leading free resource for consumers in search of a dentist has launched a nationwide $30,000 smile makeover contest called “My Smile Bites”. To enter, contestants must upload a personal video showing what’s wrong with their smile explaining how these problems affect their lives. Video submissions will be accepted through November 10, 2009 noon PST.

My Smile BitesThe public may vote for their favorite contestant videos from November 10, 2009 through December 1, 2009 noon PST. 1-800-DENTIST® will choose five potential finalists based on several criteria, including the clinical feasibility and complexity of each case. 1-800-DENTIST® will announce the winner on December 15, 2009 noon PST. The winner’s cosmetic dentistry journey will be captured on film.

“We want to show the world how dentistry can dramatically change a person’s life,” said Fred Joyal, CEO and Co-Founder of 1-800-DENTIST®. “No matter who wins, it will be a truly inspirational experience to see a person’s smile and life transformed before America’s eyes.”

On the one hand it is a great project as it gives a fantastic opportunity for someone who can afford dentist care. This will really change their lives. But what to do many others who will not win – to look and envy the lucky winners? And on the other hand, I’m sure this project is a pure advertising campaign! Look how good and professional we are and come to the dentist and you will become good-looking. I think government must think more of the problems of poor people!

That’s a nice idea!Whether it’s just an ad campaign or something else still ’tis a good one that will encourage many to be conscious of their teeth and be more protective with it.

  5. What a great way to build business and help people that can’t afford dental work. Great job!

  6. I have to echo the thoughts of some of the other commenters. It seems to me that instead of awarding such a large sum of money to one person, award smaller sums of money to a lot more people. Though seeing a dentist and receiving treatments are expensive, they are not THAT expensive. Spread it around, I say.

  7. This looks like a fun contest. Does anyone know who won?
