Incredible tips! Some people who go on diets simply set themselves up for failure. It makes since to make small adjustments rather shocking the body with deprivation and then increase calorie burning. Take it slow. Make it a long term goal rather a quick fix.

I think one of the most important things is to find an environment in which you actually enjoy working out. Nobody can stick it out and do something day in/day out which they hate.

One of the obstacles in dieting is setting unreachable dieting goals. This may lead to disappointments. Don't you think it is more effective to make one's dieting gradual?

This is a great topic and one I blog about quite frequently at my Healthy Living blog. The reason it's such a great topic of conversation is because it's so many people can relate to failing at a diet.

In my opinion, you shouldn't actually go on a diet per se, but rather change your lifestyle in a way that encourages healthier living and eating. Eating healthier foods consistently is a lifestyle change that won't happen overnight - that's the reason that all these "fad diets" never work long term. Gradually start changing your diet to more healthier foods (i.e., protein-rich foods, veggies, fruits), and don't completely eliminate sweets and other treats immediately. Control your food portions and try to eat smaller meals throughout the day - aim for 4-5 small meals during the day to keep you metabolism high.

Think of a diet as a lifestyle change rather than just a way to lose weight. This will ensure better long term results and a greater chance of accomplishing your weight loss goals.

Just me 2 cents :)

This post definitely explains some well known tips about why diets fail for a lot of people. I agree with almost everything that was written. The one I agree with the most though is people choosing the wrong diet plan for themselves. They need to make sure they pick a diet plan that not only they can stick to, but also that isn't to stressful on their every day normal life. Exercising is always more important though I agree. Without exercising, dieting really doesn't get you anywhere.

Very nice post.

Setting a clear intention for your diet is a great way to get in to the mindset of loosing weight not matter what diet you want to go on. I actually prefer a no diet diet, where you just make small adjustments to the way you eat, as diet diets has a tendency to get you on th weight elevator..
