Healthier New Year Resolution #7 – Be More Organized

Cluttered Space Needed To Get OrganizedOf all the New Year’s resolutions that people make, one of the most common involves getting organized. Getting organized can benefit you in more ways than you may think, especially since disorganization can cause a lot of confusion and frustration in one’s life. To be more organized makes the #7 in our Healthier New Year Resolution series.

Although it may seem impossible, especially if you live a particularly hectic life, there are things that you can do if you want to get more organized and relax your life.

Get Rid of Junk

Far too many of us have a million things lying around the home that we really do not even need. This is problem, because then it piles up in the house and is taking up much needed space. Having clutter in your home is going to result in you having clutter in your life, and will make you stressed out and frustrated. Especially in the bedroom, you want to make sure that everything has its place and is put away and organized. File Cabinet and Storage will work greatly. You will really be amazed at just how fantastic you feel when you have cleaned your home and are more organized.

You should keep things that you need and use a lot in easily accessible places rather than buried away in places that are hard to get to. Get boxes for any items that you only use seasonally, and if you have a basement or cellar you can store these boxes here until you need to use them. There is no point in having boxes of Christmas decorations sitting out for the entire year for instance, when you are only going to use them at Christmas time. If you do not have storage space in your home then you can consider using a storage space or even just storing them at a friend’s house, one who has the room for it.

Having a garage sale is one great idea in particular to help you get rid of your junk. Go through your home, and determine what you want to keep and what you could stand to get rid of. Then you can have a garage sale and get rid of all the junk. Not only will this help to clear up space in your home and leave you more organized, but as well you will actually be profiting from this from the money that you make during the garage sale.

Organize Your Space

Whether it is just your office or bedroom or entire home that is cluttered, organizing your space is going to be a crucial step here. You want to observe how you use your things and then work out how to use your space most efficiently. Keep in mind that if it is going to be more convenient for you to get to things then you are going to be able to stay organized in the future because you will not have to be rummaging through stuff to get to what you need.

Stay on Top of it

One of the most important steps to take in the process of getting and staying organized involves you putting things back in their place. When you take something out to use it, rather than keeping it out afterwards, you should put it away right after you are done with it. This will help to keep things in their proper place and prevent your home from becoming cluttered once again. Once you establish where you want everything to go in your home, you then need to get in the habit of putting it back there. Never leave things sitting around because this is how you got unorganized in the first place. Using a calendar will also be helpful to you here, and you want to make sure that you put it in a place where you are going to see it every day. If this means sitting it by your bed so that it is the first thing you see when you wake up every morning, this will be the best idea. Planners are also helpful to staying organized and they are especially useful if you tend to have a lot of dates and appointments to keep. If your days are very full then you will want to make sure that you have a way to keep track of everything. This will not only help to clear your mind but as well will ensure that you do not miss any of your appointments.

Getting organized may very well be one of the best things you will ever do. It will help to calm you down and leave you feeling more relaxed. It will also help to save you time in the future because you will know where everything is and therefore will not have to rummage around in confusion trying to find something when you need it.

Good article! It totally agrees with my own experience. Clutter in the home has an unbelievable disorganizing effect on the mind. Funny how something material can affect the mind so strongly.
