I think you have to really enjoy and be able to digest the foods on this diet well, otherwise it just may not be for you. I tried it but had some serious gastrointestinal issues..nothing life-threatening, but definitely disruptive to my daily existence!

enjoyed the write-up, thank you!

Foods to eliminate includes meat, dairy products, fruits, refined grains, anything with preservatives, artificial flavorings and colorings or chemicals, all canned, frozen, processed, and irradiated foods, hot spices, caffeine, alcohol, refined sugar, honey, molasses, and chocolate. Now that's a lot! LOL

A macrobiotic diet may worsen cachexia (malnutrition) in cancer patients. It is not recommended for people who have intestinal blockages, celiac disease, or cereal grain allergies.

Great article, I always wondered what the macrobiotic diet actually was. I love the concept of yin and yang in all areas of mind and body. I wonder though what the 'extreme' foods are, I wouldn't mind avoiding them. I'm guessing some red meats might be too yang?

Awesome blog by the way too!

Most informative and correct article I have read on the importance of eating vegetables in their natural state and unpreserved life giving qualities. We live in a society where there is too much emphasis on meat protein and not enough information on the importance of green..,- and I don't mean the almighty dollar. Pay attention to your body and what its needs are it will let you know when you need repair and maintenance.
