Can Frying Be Healthy?

Filed under: Expert Tips & Advice, Small Doses

Deep Frying

Fried food is unhealthy. Cooking food by deep-frying or using a lot of oil increases the fat content in the food. Eating food that is very high in fat increases your risk of high blood cholesterol and heart disease. Fried food is also high in calories and does not contain much vitamins and minerals.

Choosing a better quality oil for frying makes little difference. You may want to note that not all oils are suitable for deep frying. High frying temperatures can cause some of the healthy fats to oxidized, making it bad for health. An example is olive oil, which should not be used for frying.

Instead of frying your food, try cooking it by steaming, stir-frying with less oil, baking or broiling.
